One of the programs of both the V.F.W. and Auxiliary is
Americanism. This program is designed to promote patriotism
and continued loyalty to our country.
We support Patriotic Education by
participating in classroom teachings of the flag, the
constitution and the 'Pledge of Allegiance'.
The Auxiliary supports Citizenship
Education. Preparing immigrants for citizenship
and fostering the love of their new country.
Loyalty Day (May 1) ceremonies are
held each year. Patriotic holidays
such as Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans
Day are observed with flag raisings and flag presentations.
We encourage all to fly the flag proudly.
We remember our POW/MIA. We hold
ceremonies cemmemorating them. We support legistative
activities to get our mena and women accounted for. We vow
never to forget those who have never returned home.
We support our freedom of choice by sponsoring
'Get Out The Vote' campaigns. Our forefathers gave us this
freedom and our veterans have fought to keep it for us. Let's
support those how gave it and kept it by using it.
The Auxiliary sponsors an Americanism Poster Contest
. This year's theme is 'Space Shuttle'. The contest is open
for children pre-school through 6th grade. Contact the Auxiliary if
you have someone interested in participating.
